Our new Assistant Director of Parking will deliver an integrated, joined-up provision to establish and implement the most effective and efficient mechanisms for delivering high quality services to our residents

Leading one of the largest in-house services in London, you will play a key role in galvanising the recently reformed service to effectively and efficiently deliver the corporate objectives against both the climate and economic recovery strategies. Managing both a large revenue and capital budget, this role will drive innovation in our parking policies as well as our strategic traffic design schemes.

The Assistant Director of Parking will lead enforcement and all operational aspects of the borough’s parking function. The core priorities will be to lead, motivate and unite a large, recently formed team to deliver excellence in service; ensure the effectively run service consciously contributes to the improvement of air quality, congestion and the environment across the borough; embed a culture of excellent customer service; develop and innovate services through the use of technology and digital initiatives.

Guiding the advancement of people and performance, this role is influential in embedding a culture of continuous improvement; whilst developing teams, ideas and improvement plans, to achieve strategic objectives set out within the community wealth building agenda.

About You

Providing effective leadership across a large team delivering frontline services, you will have experience of establishing policies to enhance and maintain service delivery. You will be thinking about alternative options to cars and have an understanding of smart settings and green grids. Your expert knowledge and understanding of parking legislation and industry standards will give confidence to your teams, peers and stakeholders.

With the drive and ambition to ‘do things differently’, you will also have a strong understanding of the challenges surrounding transport, sustainability, climate change and air quality.

Reviewing the impact of improvements, you will be able to evidence the use of qualitative and qualitative indicators to measure the performance of services, devising appropriate improvement strategies.

Inspiring innovation and partnership working you will benefit from a collaborative management style, with the ability to engage, develop and drive services to achieve operational excellence, increasing efficiency and productivity.
