In this newly created position, our Assistant Director of Environmental Transformation drives the innovation and improvement agenda across all aspects of the Environment and Sustainable Transport directorate. This critical role will act as the glue between all major programmes and projects within the division, strengthening the capability to deliver our ambitious priorities, at pace.
Working collaboratively across the directorate and wider Council, the core priorities of the role will be to drive innovative service improvements aligned to the corporate programme; ensure the broad range of strategies and services delivered by the division collectively work towards enhancing the lives of everyone working and living in our borough, and tackling the climate and health challenges we face; build an effective team that can influence and implement transformational change, successfully for the long term.
Guiding the advancement of people and performance, this role is influential in embedding a culture of continuous learning across the directorate; whilst developing teams, ideas and improvement plans, to achieve strategic objectives set out within the community wealth building agenda.
This role will help sharpen our focus, harness our strengths and identify opportunities to ensure our residents can thrive, providing additional problem-solving capacity, and the ability to think differently.
You will have demonstrable experience of turning policy into positive projects and programmes of innovation, transformation of broad services in a complex environment will be second nature. You will be able to positively engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in change processes and have successfully delivered large-scale operational saving initiatives whilst driving service improvement.
Reviewing the impact of improvements, you will be able to evidence the use of qualitative and qualitative indicators to measure the performance of services, devising appropriate improvement strategies.
Inspiring innovation and partnership working you will benefit from a collaborative management style, with the ability to engage, develop and drive services to achieve operational excellence, increasing efficiency and productivity.
